About Trailwise Training

Hi, I'm Carolyn
I’ve spent the past 10+ years teaching, guiding, and helping people build confidence in the outdoors. I have worked everywhere from Summer Camps, cross-country ski trails and paddling programs to wilderness first aid classrooms and backcountry environments. I’m a certified CANSI Level 1 Cross Country Ski Instructor and love helping people discover how fun and accessible winter adventure can be.
My passion for first aid started early through lifeguarding as a teen and young adult, where I learned the importance of staying calm under pressure and helping others in emergencies. Today, I’m certified through the Canadian Red Cross to teach First Aid, CPR, Remote First Aid, and Wilderness First Aid courses.
I’m a long-time volunteer with Calgary Search and Rescue Association, where I’ve spent thousands of hours responding to searches, training in wilderness environments, and supporting emergency response operations. That real-world experience plays a big role in how I teach — practical, approachable, and focused on skills people can actually use.
Outside of teaching, you’ll usually find me adventuring with my family somewhere outdoors — hiking, camping, paddling, skiing, or exploring trails. Our family is also involved with the Junior Forest Wardens program, which has been an awesome way to continue building outdoor skills, leadership, and a love for adventure together.
My goal is simple: provide high-quality training that’s practical, approachable, and genuinely fun. Whether you’re learning CPR for the first time, taking a wilderness first aid course, or joining an outdoor adventure program, I want you to leave feeling more prepared, capable, and excited to keep learning.
